Nourish North Shore Study
Farmer- and Fisher-Supported Meal Kits
The Partnerships
With funding from UMass and Tufts, Jynessa Dutka-Gianelli and our NICHE team, together with North Shore community members, The Open Door, New Entry Sustainable Farming Project, Gloucester fishers, Gloucester Fishermen's Wives Association, and an incredible team of Co-Investigators (Lorraine Cordeiro, Amanda Kinchla, Mariana Chilton & Chaoran Ma, MD, PhD), are developing a nutritious and delicious medically supportive meal kit program for North Shore community members.

The Program
In addition to existing Open Door provisions, community members will receive meal kits that include 1-2 pounds of fresh, local seafood from area fishers and 4-5 fresh fruits and vegetables from area farmers. Meal kits will be paired with recipes adapted in collaboration with the Gloucester Fisherman's Wives Association and UMass students.
To further support participants, the GFWA and local farmers will offer cooking demonstrations designed to help community members prepare and enjoy the ingredients provided in the meal kits.
